  • 2025 Benefit Increase
    Updated On: Feb 26, 2025

The Board of Trustees met on February 7, 2025, and approved an increase in benefits for all retirees—past, present, and future—effective January 1, 2025. This enhancement will provide an additional three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month to retirees. Additionally, the Board has approved another increase of the same amount ($300.00 per month) for 2026.

Moving forward, an actuarial study will be conducted every two years to assess the financial health of the Fund and its ability to maintain or enhance benefits in the future.

This increase is made possible by the Board’s strong financial management practices and prudent investment decisions since the Fund’s inception. Thanks to long-term investment growth, the Board is able to provide this benefit increase using investment income.

The Board recognizes that rising medical costs and inflation continue to create financial challenges for retirees. While no increase can fully offset these rising expenses, the Board hopes this adjustment will help ease some of the financial burden.

How the Increase Will Be Applied for 2025

    • For members of the Firefighters’ Employee Benefits Fund: A total of $3,600 will be credited to your account, beginning with your April health insurance premium deduction. This will reduce monthly premiums by $400 per month through December 2025. If the $400 monthly credit results in a negative balance, either a check or a medical debit card will be issued. Each retiree will receive a letter detailing their adjusted April 2025 medical/dental premiums.
    • For retirees who do not participate in the Firefighters’ Employee Benefits Fund: A $3,600 credit will be added to your medical debit card.
